Stoa Membership

All competitors must be a member of Stoa in order to participate in this Stoa NITOC-modeled tournament. Stoa membership sign-up will not be offered on-site at the Ad Astra Challenge. Go to the Stoa website for information on becoming a member of Stoa.

Eligibility Requirements

All participants must meet the same eligibility as NITOC. See the Stoa website for eligibility requirements.

Registration Fees

Parli Debate - $20 per debater
Speech Events - $10 for each speech

Electronic payment through Stripe is mandatory. Payment must be made during the registration process. Payments will not be accepted at the tournament. Registration is not complete until your fees have been paid. There will be a transaction fee for each payment to cover Stripe fees. This fee is usually around 2-3%.

Cancellations prior to tournament registration close on Jan. 23rd will garner a full refund minus any Stripe fees. Registrants must contact the Ad Astra before registration closes on Jan. 23rd. If you need to cancel after January 23rd, please contact us and we will see what we can do, but we cannot guarantee a full refund.

If we need to cancel the tournament, full refunds will be issued minus any stripe fees.

All events that require a partner should check with your partners to ensure that they are also registered. A team is not registered until the second person of the partnership has registered.

Waiting List

There is a chance you could be put on a waiting list. We do this in order to open rooms as we have enough registrations for that event. As registrations come in, we will contact you asap if you have been moved to an open spot. We should have all the details worked out by January 25th. Thank you for your patience!

Script Submission

Please go to our script submission page for information regarding the requirements for each speech category.

It is our goal to have two judges in every speech round. We have had great community support in the past and have been able to have 3 judges per room. In light of the Covid climate, and the likelihood of less judge availability, we realize two judges per room is more realistic. If our turn-out of community judges is strong, and parents willingly jump in, we may be able to have three judges per round.

Judges don't need any prior experience! Our Judges' Orientation will fully equip everyone in attendance to judge ANY event.

We have a lot of judge slots to fill. We sincerely appreciate your assistance.

Trouble Registering and Logging Back In

During Registration, "Not a Stoa Member" Error Message pops up
All registrants are required to be Stoa members in order to register for this tournament. In order to ensure this, the Ad Astra Challenge website will compare your registration contact information with the Stoa member database information. If the system indicates that you might not be a Stoa member, make sure you input the exact same last name (capitalized, if that is how you registered it with Stoa), phone number, address, etc.

Trying to make changes to your registration before the end of the registration period
If you are trying to access your account after initially setting it up, do not re-enter all your information. Instead, follow these steps:
