Stoa Membership

All competitors must be a member of Stoa in order to participate in this Stoa NITOC-modeled tournament. Stoa membership sign-up will not be offered on-site at the Ad Astra Challenge. Go to the Stoa website for information on becoming a member of Stoa.

Eligibility Requirements

All participants must meet the same eligibility as NITOC. See the Stoa website for eligibility requirements.

Registration Fees

Parli Debate - $30 per debater
TP/LD Debate - $30 per debater
Speech Events - $10 for each speech

Electronic payment through Stripe is mandatory. Payment must be made during the registration process. Payments will not be accepted at the tournament. Registration is not complete until your fees have been paid. There will be a transaction fee for each payment to cover Stripe fees. This fee is usually around 2-3%.

Refunds and Drop Fees

Cancellations prior to tournament registration close on Jan. 15th will garner a full refund minus any Stripe fees. Registrants must contact Ad Astra before registration closes on Jan. 15th. Dropping an event after February 1st will incur a $15 drop fee. Please contact us if you have extenuating circumstances.

All events that require a partner should check with your partners to ensure that they are also registered. A team is not registered until the second person of the partnership has registered.

Waiting List

There is a chance you could be put on a waiting list. We do this in order to open rooms as we have enough registrations for that event. As registrations come in, we will contact you ASAP if you have been moved to an open spot. We should have all the details worked out by January 18th. Thank you for your patience!

Script Submission

Please go to our script submission page for information regarding the requirements for each speech category.

It is our goal to have three judges in every speech room. We have had great community support in the past and if parents willingly jump in, we hope to be able to reach this goal again!

Judges don't need any prior experience! Our Judges' Orientation will fully equip everyone in attendance to judge ANY event.

We have a lot of judge slots to fill. We sincerely appreciate your assistance.

Trouble Registering and Logging Back In

Tournament participants must be Stoa members.

Stoa Registration Link

New requirement this year: Be prepared to enter your Stoa "Affiliate Number" that you will find on the Review and Pay page of your 2021–2022 Stoa Registration or listed in your Stoa Registration confirmation email.

The tournament registration system will use your Affiliate Number to confirm your Stoa membership and will no longer require your name, phone number(s), address, etc., to exactly match your Stoa registration.
